Reviews Printer– The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8500 series joins her sister, the series imageRUNNER ADVANCE 6500, in-line oriented for Canon production.
Canon continually improves its machines, especially its high volume devices. With its abundance of paper handling features, strong security and a powerful engine, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8500 series is the scalable environment for any high volume printing.
Like the 6500 series, this series is also built on the latest generation of the imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform. With a speed range of 85 ppm to 105 ppm, these machines are designed for companies with high volume printing needs such as publishing floors, central reprographic departments (CRDs) and manufacturers.
The 8500 series has some other differences from the 6500 series beyond speed, such as more finishing options, a 10.4 “standard vertical panel (for two of the three machines) and a two-tone color scheme (light gray and dark gray ).
All three devices provide standard printing, copying, and scanning, and use the custom Canon dual processor. Fax is optional. The default memory is 3 GB. There is a standard 250 GB hard drive with an optional 250 GB additional hard drive mirror.
The 8585i includes a 10.1 “flat panel color LCD and the other two devices support a 10.4” vertical color LCD panel.
Paper handling: The 8500 series includes many paper handling options. The standard paper input tray starts with 1,500 sheets of double-sided paper, two 550-sheet paper trays, and a 100-sheet manual for 4,200 sheets. The option is available to add a 3,500-sheet cover paper (either the cover letter or the paper cover that accepts up to 13 “x 19”) to a maximum of 7,700 sheets. All trays accept up to 80 lb. paper weight cover, except for bypass (which accepts up to 140 pounds index).
